Newsletter 11 - 28 July 2022
Dear parents/carers,
Welcome back to Term 3. We are looking forward to a busy and fun-filled term full of exciting learning.
Newsletters
As a Campus we are streamlining our communication methods and, as such we are making changes to our newsletters. In Week 2 of each term there will be a Campus Newsletter which will be distributed to all families enrolled at South Ballajura (today’s is the first one!!). In Week 8 both the Primary School and the Education Support Centre will write separate newsletters that will be distributed to the families enrolled in the respective schools.
In-between newsletters the Primary School will communicate with families via Dojo and email, and the Education Support Centre will communicate via Seesaw and email.
Enrolments 2023
We have to submit our prospective numbers to the Department of Education by August 12th 2022. If you know that your child is not returning in 2023 (except this year’s Year 6s) please let us know by completing the attached form and returning it to us by Friday 5th August 2022.
If you know of anyone who is going to enrol in either the Primary School or the Education Support Centre who hasn’t done so yet, please encourage them to make contact with the respective school as soon as possible.
Primary School Changes
We had to make some significant changes to our school for the beginning of Term 3. Mrs James has taken leave for the remainder of the year and, after consultation with staff, we have had to collapse TA 28. The Year 4s will move to the Year 4 classes and the Year 5s will move to the Year 5 classes tomorrow.
Mrs Taryn Underwood is going on maternity leave next week. I am pleased to be able to announce that Mr Angel Bobadilla will be teaching the class for the remainder of the year.
Covid-19
Thank you for your continued efforts in keeping our school COVID-19 safe. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding with the changes we have had to make this term in regards to staffing and keeping classes running.
Reminder:
If your child becomes symptomatic they should stay home and be tested for COVID-19. You should notify the school if your child tests positive for COVID-19. Refer to healthywa.wa.gov.au for information on close contact definition, testing and isolation requirements.
We are getting a further delivery of RATs from the Department of Education. If you require additional RATs please contact your respective schools.
Kind regards,
Campus Principals

Our annual photos are taking place on the 17& 19 August 2022.
Your child/children’s teacher will let you know which day their class is having the photos taken. Please ensure on the day that they are wearing clean green and charcoal t-shirts/polo’s, Zina charcoal skirts / charcoal shorts or charcoal pants. (See attached pictures). Please do not send your child/children to school in their faction shirts on this day.
Sometimes in life you have a decision to make whether its admitting that you are wrong or telling the truth. Whatever it is choose the right choice. The difficult roads can lead to the sweetest places. This quote means that choosing to do the right and good choice even if it’s difficult.
South Ballajura can become a safe school if all the students aim to do the following:
• Play games that are less rough
• Show kindness to others
• Include others even if they are not as good as they are
• Be resilient when you don’t win
• Share only positive things about other people and the same will happen to you.

Learning a new language fosters a greater understanding and appreciation of other people and customs that are different to their own - Dept. of Edu.
We are organised for the new term, the classroom has been rearranged, so students can sit next to a different person, to encourage 'getting along'. Lessons begin with students communicating with one another through teacher prepared conversations.
Year 3 students are learning to say the name of our school in Indonesian and discussing similarities and differences between school in Indonesia and Australia.
Year 4s are continuing to learn to tell the time on the hour and half hour. Year 5s are writing about their daily routine and Year 6s are writing and drawing about their ideal Saturday.
Happy Learning! Selamat belajar!

A reminder that all students need to be wearing full school uniform. As the weather has become cooler, we have noticed a number of students wearing black or coloured logo/branded style jumpers and jackets.
These do not comply with our school uniform expectations, we ask parents' support to ensure that they are sending their children to school in the correct attire.
If you would like more information about the requirements of our uniform or where you can purchase them, please visit our website School Uniform Requirements.
