Students with Special Needs

specialThe campus incorporates the South Ballajura Education Support Centre which offers specialised learning programs for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and intellectual disabilities.

Community Access in Education Support

The South Ballajura Education Support Centre provides a Community Access Program throughout the year. Throughout Terms 1, 2 and 3 the Centre visits various places once a week to engage in Language skills, Social skills, Money skills, Integration skills and Physical Activity. The skills and activities form structured programs linked to the students Individual Education Plans, transferring classroom skills into the Community. SBPS Special NeedsVenues the Centre regularly visits include Whiteman Park, Landsdale Farm and Ballajura Indoor Sports Stadium. During Term 4, the focus is on swimming skills leading into the whole school campus attending swimming lessons for 2 weeks.

Additional venues include Caversham Wildlife Park, Woodbridge Riverside Park, Perth Zoo, Perth Bell Tower, AQUA, and the Perth Convention Centre for live performances. This variety of settings over the year provides the students with the opportunity in which to generalise the social and academic skills taught in the classroom. Integration Buddy classes and families are invited to join us for some sessions.
